Gio Modern Italian - Chesterfield

Another Great Dining Experience at GIO Modern Italian. Son and grandchildren came in for my wife and my birthdays. Dining at GIO Modern Italian is the location for ANY OCCASION. Our server, Mike, was Excellent and added to the dining experience. He was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, answered all questions and made some suggestions which were appreciated. A great server can really add to the evening. After cocktails, lemonade for the children, we had appetizers of calamari (cooked to perfection) and the amazing Charcuterie Board...if you haven't tried it, you don't know what you are missing. Dinner entrees were steak salad (cooked perfectly rare as requested, baked lobster mac and cheese (delicious), cheese pizza (the best dough and flavor), and balsamic glazed scallops with spinach risotto and leeks on top (if you are a fish lover, this is for you). Any occasion, any time, inside or outside, family, friends, business associates, you can't beat GIO Modern Italian for any dining experience...also great brunch and lunch menus. Have been dining here since Gio and Jessica opened the restaurant over 10 years and it has become a Chesterfield Gem, and will remain so.

The only downside was the service. My MIL asked for lemon for her water, and it took a long time until it showed up at the table. My son ordered the pork chop, was told by the waiter that he'd get a steak knife, but I had to flag down another worker to get it approximately 10 minutes after the dinner was on the table. It was quite noisy, but in all fairness, it was a Saturday night. The food was absolutely delicious; everyone ordered a different dish and the concerned is that the chef is fantastic. For reference, in addition to the pork, the chicken Chardonnay was ordered by my MIL, and she raved. I ordered the wild mushroom papardelle, and I also raved. I'd say the least enthusiastic patron at our table was my husband; he ordered the lasagna, and he said it was “okay”.

Excellent service !! We had a large party of 10 and sat outside on lighted patio The food portions were large and very good everyone enjoyed their food choice . We will definitely return !!

Loved the food and service, only drawback is we had the 4 top by the door to the patio, every time it opened heat poured in, then the ac vent was blowing on us, so it was not the best level of comfortable temps

The food was ok. Overpriced for flavors. Breakfast pizza was meh, not offering anything besides sunny side up egg to be called a breakfast item. Server was young and inexperienced. He didn't offer any advice on menu or daily best or I would have gotten somwthing different. Sadly we will not be returning.
