Bidrage med feedbackThis place is great. They've done a considerable amount of renovations in the recent months and the restaurant is now found on the first floor in the front of the building. The bar at the top floor was closed when I went last but it seems like they'll keep the bar there for night events. For this visit, I went to the restaurant and the service was exceptional. The dining room was also very nice and very new (you can even make out the faint smell of fresh paint). The food, though a little pricey for lunch, was delicious. I started off with the salmon and eggs and that was some of the best I've had. I then went on to the steak and chips and that was really good too. Parts of the steak were a little chewy but I guess every cut it different. They cooked my steak just the way I like it, medium-rear. I will update my review once I come back and see what the night scene looks like.
I was lucky enough to be taken for lunch here recently. Century is very unassuming from the outside, just a plain door on a noisy road. Once inside you feel better instantly, even though you have to walk up a flight of stairs before being greeted. Being used to the hyper-professional and over-friendly service at The Hospital Club, I was a bit taken aback by two staff members who shared the lift and completely ignored me when I got lost. Oh well, perhaps it was too obvious I didn't belong Well, lunch more than made up for the rocky start. The famous roof terrace was covered up as it wasn't quite warm enough to brave the elements. Food was lovely, and so was the wine.
Having spent considerable time in a couple of the newer members clubs in London, Eight and The Hospital, I was looking forward to spending a little time at Century. This older slightly more conspicuous club is nice enough, but not my style. The feeling is more corporate than the likes of the Hospital and there wasn't much of a social vibe. Albeit I only spent time in one of the two bars, didn't visit the restaurant or the other two work areas, so Century may be worth a second visit. At £500pa membership for a location moments from Piccadilly Circus, Century is great value for money and may be what you are looking for. If you are in the hunt for a members club, put it on your short-list.
Yesterday I went to Century Club, London for the first time. I did not really know anything about it previously, but since I had an invite I gave it a shot. The evening on the Rooftop terrace was organised by Aussie Hair, who had teamed up to give 80 girls an evening of beauty, drinks and good food. We arrived at the location and were greeted and gave our names for the guest list. You can only really get in if you're either a member or if you're invited and on the guest list. You can leave your clothes at the wardrobe downstairs and then climb the first flight of stairs to get to reception. I did not get to see the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor but instead we went straight up to the fourth floor for the rooftop terrace. The location is quite small but beautiful. Nicely decorated with several seating areas and a long bar across the back of the room. Whenever it is dry, they'll open the roof and you can enjoy your evening (or afternoon) under the sky with a great view of London. They even did that yesterday (29th October 2011) so even in late October we felt like summer. The bar was great, service was superb and the drinks of very good quality. Champagne and wine that left a nice aftertaste. There is nothing worse than being hungover or slightly sick because a place serves bad quality! And then there was the food. Amazing!! Not only was it served by real hunks (Aussie's male models) but the food was fresh, tasty and just the right thing to compensate the alcohol. Sausages, potatos, shrimps, tomato&mozarella ... all with great dips. Definitially worth trying!! Four stars for Century Club. The only thing to inprove is the toilets. Especially girls appreciate a little extra here. Maybe some Q-tips, pads, hairspray etc. stocked here. Just a thought!
Lovely club with a beautiful ambience. The roof terrace is lovely and great for private events.
