Bidrage med feedbackI visited this restaurant earlier this week hoping to eat there, but the owner of the store next door told us that it had closed down. It's a shame because it was a great option for vegetarians!
Located on 8th Street, downstairs, this restaurant is worth the potential crowds and short wait for its freshly made okonomiyaki. Whether enjoyed with or without noodles, both options are delicious. The food is excellent value for money and perfect for those wanting to try authentic Japanese street food for the first time.
As someone who has a deep love for Japanese cuisine, I was thrilled to discover Okonomi House at the Eight Street Eatery in Garden City Shopping Centre. The okonomiyaki they serve is on par with the best I've had in Japan. This Japanese pizza is a delicious and filling meal with a variety of options for fillings and toppings. My personal favorites include beef, pork belly, teriyaki chicken, and cheese, while my partner enjoys the seafood and spicy kimchi options. We have been regular customers for over 2 years and always look forward to our weekly visits. The staff are friendly and welcoming, adding to the enjoyable dining experience. If you're looking for delicious and affordable food that won't impact your waistline, I highly recommend Okonomi House. They also have a store in the city and at Eat Street Foodies Market, where you can find matcha soft serve, pudding, and other treats. Don't hesitate to try their yaki soba and takoyaki - you won't be disappointed!
For any who have read my previous reviews, you will be fully aware that I have a love affair with all things Japanese & make no secret of this. So being able to enjoy one of my ultimate favourite Japanese foods right here at home, leaves me overjoyed!Since discovering Okonomi House amongst the restaurants that make up the Eight Street Eatery at Garden City Shopping Centre, I can honestly say that I consider the okonomiyaki they serve to be on par with the very best I've tried on my, now, several trips to Japan. Referred to as a Japanese pizza, (the description explained in a previous review) this is a meal that is both thoroughly tasty, filling & healthy. There are several options for fillings or toppings that combine exquisitely with either the traditional Hiroshima style with noodles or the Osaka style (slightly more frittata like). Personal favorites for me include the beef, pork belly, teriyaki chicken or even the cheese option, whilst my partner has a penchant for both the seafood & spicy kimchi.Eating here has become a weekly pilgrimage that we thoroughly look forward to & have done so now for over 2 years. That alone should speak volumes. We keep returning because we thoroughly enjoy the food. Needless to say, dining here so regularly has also allowed us to meet some of the delightfully friendly staff. They are always welcoming & happy to serve you. If you want to experience some delicious food, at really reasonable prices that also doesn't threaten the waistline, then I totally & utterly recommend you race down to Okinomi House! Outside of Japan, its the best I've tasted! In this age where everyone is striving for clean & healthy eating, this also tastes amazing! What more could you ask for?? They also have a store in the Wintergarden in the city & can be found at Eat Street "Foodies" Market. Amongst their other delights are matcha (green tea) soft serve or pudding & a small selection of drinks. Available at the Wintergarden store are also yaki soba & takoyaki. Highly recommended by my partner.Stretch your taste buds & give it a go as soon as you can, you won't regret it!
Prices are reasonable and food was great I always love 8 street because of that traditional Japanese feel of the streets and all the great ethnic food
