Le Paicherou - Carcassonne

What a fascinating place unfortunately we passed a rainy day in september, which meant that Sunday afternoon dance was limited in the interior. we enjoyed fine grilled pork dishes and ardoise charcuterie, but had to go on before the dance began, the hall had filled with couples of seniors who seemed to enjoy themselves.

What could be better? Beautiful, shady, riverside setting with wholesome food and the very best of 'people-watching ' opportunities. We always bring our summer visitors here and they just love it -no matter what age or taste. The food is good quality BBQ fare with a...happy, friendly ambiance and the chance to watch the 'troisieme age ' French at play! Boy do these folks know how to put on a show! Dressed to the nines and pretty good at the latin dances too. Some of our group have been known to take to the floor, themselves, but are no match for the regulars, either in style or technique! In Carcassonne with family (who are staying on for 3 months) it was our anniversary and we all like live music so chose this restaurant as The Bayou Brothers (a French blues/gospel band) were playing there on that night. The Formule for the day...was very reasonable 3 courses, glass of wine and coffee included. The staff were lovely, the music was fabulous and the food was great. Amuse Bouches followed by choice of two mains and puds. They apparently put on regular tea dances in the summer and would love to go. Highly recommend this place.

Best to choose fine weather day, to fully enjoy the total "al fresco" ambiance.in the lovely, shady venue, near to the river.We usually take our guests for Sunday lunch, which provides rustic foods, but with generous servings of babequed meats, salads with baked potatoes and delicious desserts.However, the main highlight is when the dancers arrive in all their glory. They may be seniors but they know how to have fun......and they certainly do that! They tread the light fantastic to the live band, who play mostly latin-style music, with line dancing as a bonus.We diners can dance, if we wish, but spectating is just so fascinating, not many do. Wonderful treat for all the family.

Restaurant avec un excellent emplacement au bord de l'Aude en terrasse, service accueillant et chaleureux qui propose toutes sortes de grillades au feu de bois. Très bonne qualité prix rien à redire juste à vous conseiller de vous y rendre.
