Bidrage med feedbackLast night we needed last minute dinner plans so we decided to head over to the King Ed. to try out their new bar menu. Every part of our experience was great! Chase and Carlie who were bartending were super friendly and their service was very quick being that it was a lively night in the bar. I had a glass of the pinot gris and it was perfectly refreshing. For dinner we started with roasted oysters and the mixed greens strawberry salad to start the portions were perfect for starters and left us eager for more! For our entrees we couldn't say no to the fried chicken sandwich. The 2 giant pieces of fried chicken between a sesame seed bun could have been enough for 2 meals! We will definitely be back for more cocktails and to try out the rest of the menu in the King Ed. and Magnolia Room.
While in Cape May we had to find a cool bar. The King Edward was close to our hotel and gave a nice homey feel and good drinks.
I 've never actually written a review on Yelp, and this may be the only time, but the service we received an hour ago at King Edward prompted me to write this. Today is my birthday, and we 're down in Cape May for the weekend, staying about two blocks away from King Edward. We heard great things about this place, and we were looking for a late afternoon happy hour spot for a drink or two before dinner. We should 've known something was off when upon entering the bar and greeting the sole surly patron and equally surly bartender we received zero response. Seeing that the bartender was using a portion of the bar for cutting up fruit we asked if we should sit at one of the nearby high top tables instead. The response from the bartender? I don 't care where you sit, in an equally surly manner. We immediately walked out. Terrible service, King Edward. Do better.
We come to the King Eddy every time we are in Cape May as it is one of the hidden gems of the island. We are in no ways even remotely close to the 65+ crowd in the first reviews comments. Mostly frequented by locals it is less touristy than other establishments. We know all of the bartenders by name and they all treat us like we live there year round. The Friday night happy hour spread is great, particularly the homemade horseradish-bacon cheese dip. I like the atmosphere so I was a bit reluctant to make a review and let the cat out of the bag. By all means, take Pimp D's advice and go to Congress Hall so I know I can grab a seat at my favorite watering hole in Cape May.
This place was way more chill than some other big hotels in Cape May. Loved the front porch and the live music the night we were there. Great spot for child-free folks!
