Bidrage med feedbackFood and service absolutely fabulous! We will be back!
Best Sunday lunch I've had for a long time! Good vegan and vegetarian options too, and puddings spot on, especially the apple crumble! We were a group of 8 and made to feel very welcome.
Having seen the other reviews I can only think that our faces didn't fit as we were greeted with apathy from the minute we walked in. The food was good (I had the biggest lamb shank I've ever seen) and the chef who served it was pleasant. However, the waitress (possibly also the landlady) was abrupt and rude despite me trying to make conversation. She never asked if our food was ok, and pointedly asked a neighbouring table if they wanted desert, but ignored us. We finally walked out. I hope she was just having a bad day and this is unusual, but it didn't impress my Canadian friend, and spoilt our meal.
Dropped in for a drink, then decided to stay for food. And wasn't disappointed. Food was great!
A lovely historic coaching Inn, beautiful and remote location with a mixture of walkers, cyclists, locals and our party including two French ladies who wanted a good home cooked Sunday lunch in an authentic English pub. It really delivers, proper home cooked chips, very important to French people. Excellent food, all fresh and home cooked, which delighted the French visitors. A first for them was Yorkshire pudding, English custard with jam Roly poly pudding and Eton Mess. Great value, really friendly welcome, superb food. Portion sizes are great for walkers and cyclists, we came by car and they had to go and lie down after eating the three course menu. Highly recommended.
