Blue Branch Bbq - Byars

We really enjoyed ribs and brisket at Blu’s bbq in downtown OKC. The ribs are smoked over pecan which gave them a wonderful flavor. For sides, we recommend the cowboy beans for those who like heat and the fried okra. The owner, Kathy is an absolute delight and made our visit even better!

(First, let me mention that this restaurant is listed under “quick bites”, which is a little deceiving. My husband and I stopped by after visiting the Memorial. We looked on trip advisor for BBQ near memorial. So, yes you order at the counter and take your seat. The owner, Kathy, personally took our order giving us recommendations and even samples to help us decide. Everything was delivered quickly. Hot, fresh and delicious! The fries were hot and tasty. My husband said “best brisket I’ve ever had”. We even purchased 3 bottles of their bbq sauce to bring home. In the last 2 weeks, driving cross country, this is hands down the BEST dining experience we’ve had! Kathy will even be in my scrapbook now, since this was a highlight of our trip! I recommend the “meat platter” you pick your meats and sides. Something for everyone! Oops, almost forgot she brought us Chocolate Chip cookies when we were done! ?

We stopped for lunch today. I was disappointed. The food was ok. They got our order wrong and then tried to say it was what we ordered. When we pointed out the description on the menu didn't match what was on the plate, they fixed it. Never received pickles that were requested 3 times. Too many good bbq places around to go there again.

Shared a two meat platter of brisket and turkey with okra and cowboy beans. Delicious! Brought out free cookies after our meal.

Good burger with smoke sauce and seasoned fries. Brisket sandwich with baked beans also a winner... good atmosphere in a tucked away location. Nice open space with inside patio.
