Bidrage med feedbackAmazingly, the menu offers only one seafood dish and also it has only two steak entrées. Apart from the selection that is limited, the food was fine, but over price. The location is excellent and the ambience is beautiful. Unfortunately, with such a menu and the different fees for minor changes, I would not recommend this restaurant.
Not at all what we expected. Nice atmosphere, but overpriced and food was unimaginative and under seasoned. Disappointing, we will not go back.
I had dinner at Verbena when it first opened and had an okay meal, but was not impressed. I never planned on going back, until a friend told me that he went, had a great meal, and they got a new chef and new manager. So, I decided to give it another try and brought my girlfriend. I didn't make reservations, so it was a few minutes for a table which was not a problem because we wanted to have a drink before dinner anyways. The bartender was very nice, I think her name was Cari and she made the best Vodka martini with a new vodka called Zyr (my new favorite). When we sat down for dinner, we ordered the Gnocchi app, which was unbelievable and a bottle of wine that was excellent for the price. For entrées, I had the Cowboy Ribeye and my gf had the Risotto. Her risotto was delicious, but no match for my steak (best I ever had). Overall, service was very good and I am very thankful that my friend told me to go back. What a difference!
While the menu offers interesting and promising sound products, the final results fall flat. The charcuterie plate app $14, described as home-grown crushed meat and relishes turned out to be a few thick slices of cheap domestic Prosciutto, Bland Capicola, Pfefferoni !? , and some bland diced duck meat mixed with chopped mushrooms try to be ducks. The primary 45 days dry aged ribeye came medium-heavy, not medium-heavy as ordered, was hard and so covered in a brown mushroom sauce that any taste that the steak might have was indestructible. The accompanying maish potatoes were colder and almost lumpy. The disappointment was no less disappointing. As roasted duck breast, duck jam, fried tenderloin with mustard spaetzle, it came good looking, but served in a bowl. The cut breast looked great, with golden brown crispy skin, but the taste and texture left much to wish. Salt seems to be short in the kitchen as the duck was as bland as the ravines on the charcuterie plate. The zartoin and 3 or 4 small pieces of confit, all just as tasteless lay under the chest swimming together with the sparrow in a broth that seemed the whole as bad soup. We're past Dessert. On the service side, my waterglass was empty for most meals, like my companion wine glass. Bread came about 15 minutes after it was promised, and about 1 minute before the appetizers. In summary, we must note that we were in the dining room upon arrival of the only customers. A kitchen that can't expose a medium-sized rare steak if it's the only one in the whole place where you have to take part in to have some problems. The lack of spices in all dishes confirms that. The appearance of some cheap pieces of pepperoni as a featured item on a $14 Charcouterie Plate was not only offensive, but criminal scam. This is just another overpriced place that was given 3 1/2 stars of the aging hack in the Buffalo News, Janice Okun. If this woman was only placed on pasture, and reviews of 3-4 stars were stopped like Mardi Gras Beads, the food in this area could improve. The cook in Verbena should think about what he does and bring the ideas he seems to have to live.
We often dinate in Verbena and it's time to offer a realistic feedback. The food is excellent and there is a new cook in the city! The menu has changed and it is fabulous. We had a difficult time choice, which means many more visits, because everything was wonderful, including the service. My advice is not to go to Verbena if you are not willing to pay for creative, high quality food from a cook who knows his way around many different kitchens clearly. What the person is suffering with the three-year-old, but this is not a suitable place for a small child. Accidents happen, but please save us all and get a babysitter!
