The Black Boys - Broadland

My family and I have been loyal patrons of The Black Boys for many years. After a hiatus, we recently decided to have Sunday lunch there and walked the 4 miles from our home to work up an appetite! The meal was absolutely delicious, especially the tempura prawn and calamari dish that we shared as a starter. The kitchen was able to accommodate my husband's gluten-free dietary needs, which was greatly appreciated. The haddock with poached egg and mash, a classic dish on the menu, was consistently tasty and I found it hard to stop eating, even when I was full! The restaurant is run superbly by Matt Miller, who goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels special. His attention to detail and hospitality truly set him apart as a host. We were thrilled to see Lindsay back, whose warm and welcoming presence added to our dining experience. We are already planning a large group meal for 40-50 people in a few months, confident that Matt and his team will work tirelessly to make it a memorable evening. The service will be impeccable, and the food delicious, just as it was during our last event there. The Black Boys excels in its commitment to customer satisfaction. While they may not always get everything perfect, they are quick to rectify any issues if brought to their attention. Establishments like The Black Boys, which cater to locals, tourists, and regulars alike, deserve recognition and support for their dedication to providing exceptional service to their community.

I booked a table for Sunday lunch and was disappointed with the overall experience. The roast beef I ordered was served cold, along with mashed potatoes and roast potatoes that were also cold. Despite trying to get the staff's attention, I was not able to address the issue. My wife lost her appetite as well. We ordered a banoffi dessert to share and the total bill came to £60.05. When we paid with £65.00, we were not offered any change. We left feeling unsatisfied and disappointed, and have decided not to return for Sunday lunch in the future. I am sorry for the negative comments, but I stand by my review.

This pub is wonderful. We have been here several times for lunch and the service and food are excellent. The staff is welcoming and goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. They work hard to keep the tables clean and cleared. We also enjoy coming in for coffee and receive the same great service. I highly recommend giving this place a try, you won't be let down.

It was New Year’s Day, and we were looking for a pitstop on a long walk. The place was packed – and any table that wasn’t occupied had a ‘Reserved’ note. Despite that, the friendly staff went out of their way to find us somewhere to enjoy a drink. We were told we could have a table by the bar for half-an-hour, which was perfect for us. The drinks, snacks and coffees we had were great – and the service was cheerful and helpful, even though they were all rushed off their feet. We really appreciated it all, and we’ll definitely be back.
