Rustic Neds - Box Hill

Rustic Ned’s is a hidden gem. I’d always been meaning to stop in as I had driven past so many times. We finally did last weekend and I believe that it is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Last weekend I had the highly recommended Aussie burger with a side of chips and gravy. The burger was stacked and reminded me of how burgers used to be in my childhood. Big, delicious and full of flavour. Originally, I wasn’t that hungry when I had arrived as I was just after a milkshake but I demolished the burger and chips like there was no tomorrow. My wife in the meanwhile had this whopping huge chicken burger which she also finished. Considering my wife isn’t really a burger person, that she finished her burger in minutes is testament to how good that burger was. Then I heard about their smoker meats on a Saturday arvo and said that I would be back today. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I chose the mixed pack with both Pork belly and lamb and hands down that was one of the best value dinners I have had in a long time. The lamb was so tender and flavoursome in a light jus and was melt in the mouth awesome. The dinner pack came with some baked potatoes with sour cream, corn cobs and a bed of chips. But for me, the jewel in the crown was the pork belly. I was greeted by a generous slab of pork belly that was so tender And juicy that I didn’t need a knife. It just fell apart with my fork and was a party in my mouth. Topped with the thick layer of crispy crackling on top that wasn’t salty but oh so good. I was in porky heaven and am now a huge fan. Note that the portions for both the lamb and pork were very generous. So if you love your meats, tasty burgers and pies this is your new go to place. And I haven’t even begun to talk about the wonderful and warm customer service. The owners of Rustic Neds are so friendly that you feel like you are family. Just genuine hospitality and great conversations as they are preparing your meals fresh. And last week when we ate in and had burgers they had some great tunes playing through the stereo so it was a really comfortable, chilled out vibe while sitting around our barrel table and enjoying our burgers. Do yourselves a favour and check it out. I’ll see you guys next weekend for the smoker meats again, if not earlier.UPDATE: I have since been back and got the marinated chicken maryland, pork ribs and and beef brisket and these are also absolutely amazing. The smokiness comes through the meats and they are so tender and flavoursome. The home made gravy is just the icing on the cake and marries up so well with the meats. Portions are generous as per usual so they really are an absolute bargain for the quality that you get. Pics have been uploaded.

Loved the almond coffee and the banana bread... The staff here is extremely wonderful... Ample of parking also available... It's a hidden gem....

Defiantly a good choice of eating, conveniant location when they work on the way! personal experience remained in order to get a coffee, was not impressed, despite extracted over. great on eating and location could use some work on the coffee front. 3/5

This is a small café near Box Hill that can be hard to spot, but once you find it, you'll be delighted. They serve amazing coffee, and the pastries here are simply delicious. I'm a big fan of this place, and the staff is very friendly. They also offer catering services. I highly recommend checking it out!
