Bidrage med feedbackTo be honest, I don't think that an outstanding Taiwanese restaurant currently exists in boston, and jo taipei is certainly not. jo taipei will probably satisfy her demand for Taiwanese food, but do not expect to be blown away. I got three brunch elements when I went: chop meat rice with a egg, guava bao (taiwanese pork bell beans), and scalion pancake with a minced pork rice is often a good mess for me for high quality Taiwanese food. large Taiwanese restaurants often have chop meat, where each piece is cut so that there is almost 50% meat and 50% fat, the whole dish gives a full savory taste. jo taipei’s hackfleischreis uses floor pork that can buy almost everyone in a super market (like most Taiwanese restaurants in boston do to my disappointment.) the taste was good, although the egg was a bit too dry and boiled. the gua bao was similarly tasteful to serve. my favorite of the three dishes was actually probably the skordkuchen with a egg that had a nice salt taste on what I appreciated. I'd order the court again if I came back. the service to be honest was kind of bad. they forgot one of the courts we have ordered, and it took forever to get our neck so we could go. no good impression.
Great Taiwanese restaurant. One the best prices for authentic Chinese/Taiwanese food. GREAT SOUP DUMPLINGS. Great house fried rice with shrimp and pork. Usually pretty empty but still good
Jo Jo Taipei is a place to come to eat with friends and/ or family! There's usually never a wait and food comes out fairly quickly. They serve your typical Taiwanese dishes such as beef noodle soup, scallion pancakes, and soup dumplings! I've been to Jo Jo Taipei both by myself and with friends, and every time, service and food is great! I love how this restaurant is family style friendly. The mapo tofu really stood out to me because it had a kick and was the right texture. Not too watery, but also a good amount of sauce. I love the scallion pancake as well because it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Great place to accommodate families and to eat delicious Taiwanese cuisine! I would definitely come back.
This Taiwanese spot definitely deserves more credit. They serve some great foods at affordable prices and are flavorful! The restaurant is big and has plenty of seating, also able to accommodate large parties. They have lunch special deals that are decent and are lunch sized portions. They also have other menu items that are great for serving parties that want to have a family style meal (which I recommend so that you get to try more dishes). The food comes out fairly quick and the staff is attentive. I enjoyed most of the dishes on their menu and definitely recommend the three cup chicken, a classic Taiwanese dish that you can't go wrong with. The salt and pepper calamari is also very good. I also enjoyed this diced chicken cooked with red pepper dish. They have ranges of spicy and non spicy dishes to satisfy both flavor palates. The lunch menu items are decent and have some good things on it but otherwise, it's very starchy and takes like a better version of Chinese take out. The bowls of rice are small but perfect portions to go with the meal. I also enjoy their appetizer items as well. The scallion pancake with beef is not bad. The scallion pancake is very thick and dense but has a good crusty outer layer. Since it's dense though, it doesn't have enough sauce inside to accommodate it. I haven't tried their shaved ice but I've heard great things about it.
I went here recently with my family for brunch. We ordered: pork soup dumplings(XLB) crabmeat soup dumplings(XLB) taiwanese style pan fried dumplings scallion pancake with scallion and roasted beef leeks pocket w/egg and vermicelli beef and tung choi noodles in satay sauce spicy beef noodle soup braised pork with steamed bun topped with peanuts stinky tofu My favorites were the pan fried dumplings, noodles in satay sauce, and the scallion pancake wrapped with scallion and beef. The XLB was a bit of a disappointment. I thought the pork filling was a bit salty and the skin was too thick. The leeks pocket was fresh but I thought it didn't have much filling inside. It was mostly dough. You get a 10% discount if you pay by cash. Overall, I give this place a 3.5 stars.
