This is a good place to sit outside (in a gravel lot) to enjoy dining Al fresco. Although gravel can make adjusting your chair a challenge at times. Food is solid, if not exciting. There is an outdoor stage but I've never been there when it was in use. I assume the have entertainment at times. It's not the most visible restaurant in Bluffton so you might have to really look for it. Four stars cause I find myself coming back a lot. Must be a reason!
Dispensary is a popular spot for locals. You'll see golf carts lined up from the local residents driving to the restaurant. Live music was being set up as we were headed out around 7 o'clock. I'm sure it would be a good time. I wish I would've gotten a picture of the inside because I think that's where the charm is. Though sitting outside is very conducive to drinking several beers and laughing with friends. All three of the dishes we ordered was really good. Potentially one of the best fried green tomato dishes I've eaten. It was more of a mix on a Caprese salad which I really appreciated! also highly recommend the shrimp! They had a great fire pit set up for staying warm on the outer edge. As it was chilly that night I would've appreciated three more to standby.
My wife and I were visiting Bluffton yesterday for the first time since my review earlier this year, and since we had such a great experience the first time we were here, we went back again for lunch. Unfortunately, our experience wasn 't quite the same this time, even though we ordered the exact same items as before. We got an immediate bad impression when we were greeted by a surly hostess who barely acknowledged us while telling us to sit wherever we wanted. Our server then came to our table and we were delighted to see that it was Gypsy, the same person who served us last time. And before I go any further with this update, let me state for the record that her service was once again as friendly and professional as it was the first time. In fact, she was the one bright spot in this otherwise meh return visit. As I noted above, my wife once again ordered the OTD Grouper $25, up from $22 on our last visit and I ordered the Black Bean Burger still $15 . The only difference this time was that I washed down my burger with a draft Sam Adams Octoberfest $6 instead of a Guinness. My wife pronounced her grouper to be fishy tasting this time, if that makes sense to you. She couldn 't be any more specific other than to state that although it was fine, it wasn 't nearly as good as last time. As for me, my Black Bean Burger was so mushy that it almost dissolved in my mouth without me having to chew. The final negative aspect of this visit was that my wife had to use the ladies ' room and she said that it was disgusting. Before we left, I went into the men 's room just to see what condition it was in, and it appeared to be clean enough. However, the paper towel dispenser was broken and there was only one working lightbulb in the three-bulb fixture, If this had been our first visit to Old Town Dispensary, I doubt that we would return. However, given how excellent our first visit was earlier this year, I 'm willing to chalk this up to a bad day by the kitchen and cleaning staff, and we will return for a third time to see which one of our first two trips was the anomaly.
Was at the farmer's market and heard about Old Town Dispensary so our party of four stopped for lunch. Great service by Gypsy. Two split a sandwich and two ordered salads-ish. Mine was the fried green tomato appetizer that I enjoyed as a salad/meal. Fantastic flavors and fresh ingredients including 3 tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, 3 shrimp with pesto over a bed of delicious greens with a red pepper coulis and balsamic glaze. Everyone was happy with their choices. GM stopped by to see how everything was and then walked us out, telling us about the live music on certain nights. Planning to become part-time residents over the next year or so, loving the Old Town friendliness.
