Tacos El Monkey Food Truck

Absolutely fantastic. Stopped by for gas, and was thrilled to see this food truck only 50 yards away! Price was unbeatable. $10 for a jarritos and tacos. The service was great and the lady was really nice and patient (especially considering that the wind made it tricky to hear me! . My food was out in a matter of minutes--I was fed and happy by the time everyone else in my party had received their food from the various local fast food joints they decided to go to.The meat was delicious and fresh, and the perfect little boost to get me through the drive. I would even go out of my way to swing by here as a gas stop to grab some fresh tacos. It's rare to find a joint at that level of quality on the road, and I'm glad that I've got another place on Yelp to refer back to on my next grapevine-traversing trip!

Wow. These tacos were 10/10. So glad I decided to make the pitstop otw back to SJ from LA. I ordered Asada, Lengua, and Cabeza. Everything was slightly seasoned and had great flavors all around, including the salsa which wasn't really spicy but it had a kick. Honestly one of the best lengua tacos I've ever had. The two workers at the the truck tonight were also super nice. I'll definitely be back!

INCREDIBLE!!! NO more words to describe this place. We stopped at a charging station nearby and discovered this food truck beating the extremely sunny Bakersfield weather. I got veggie tacos and my partner got chicken tacos. The freshest tacos we've ever had were served to us here. And the sides of pickled veggies and salsas were phenomenal. Highly, highly recommend!

I had the lucky fortune of needing gas while tacos el monkey was parked at the curb. I was hungry for something other than the candy stash I bought at Eddie's world. I ordered a pastor taco and a barbacoa taco. My spidy senses were telling me I was in for a treat. As we waited, we leaned into the truck window. My god, it's a culinary heaven in there. If you've ever had the pleasure of sitting in a Mexican mamas kitchen as she tends to the flavors handed down through her family for generations, this is the smell wafting out of this truck. It's unmistakable and it warms the soul. I wanted to climb in and spend the rest of my day chatting and watching the magic happen. Anyway, we got our tacos and the plate was garnished with lime wedge, a mini toasted corn tortilla with a light spread of refried beans and cojita, simple yet tasty. The tacos were very much reminiscent of a street taco topped with fresh onion and cilantro. The pastor was phenomenal. I don't like a wet shredded meat type of pastor and this was perfect. The seasoning was light, meat was in chunks but not dry. No one flavor dominated but they blended together in harmony like a song in my mouth. The barbacoa was very much the same but with a traditional barbacoa flavor, also gracefully done. I love food that makes you think as it sits in your mouth. Trying to figure out what spice rolled by as the next one rolls in is fun! It was a sheer pleasure to stumble across this little truck with a nice little lady behind the counter. I know the next time I'm driving by this exit, I'll be stopping to see if tacos el monkey is there.
