Bidrage med feedbackFirst off the owners of the brewery are some of the nicest people ever. I'm so glad we stopped in and would gladly stop any time we are passing through. It seems the signage has improved since some of the other reviews, so you shouldn't miss it! The tasting is still $5, but you no longer get a glass included as some of the other reviews indicated. For $5, you'll be able to sample four beers, my favorite of which was the Equinox Pilsner (but everything I tried was very good). I'm just bummed that I was a week too early for the pear pilsner, which sounded delightfully different. Just an excuse to come back, I guess!
First of all, I drove by and could not find the place, until I checked Yelp and saw Rebeccs Quick Tip. You are a lifesaver! This was the first stop on our Vermont Beer-cation. Expecting to visit a brewery, I was a little bit concerned that the street just looked residential. It 's a yellow house-looking building and garages on the corner. No big sign but look closely and there 's a Northshire banner on the side. Pull up and knock or someone will notice and come out. So once I parked and the owner came out, I was thinking Oh no, I hope this isn 't going to be so awkward when we are the only 2 people on this 'tour. ' The owner (sorry, forgot his name) was so nice and friendly that it just felt like we were hanging out and getting a cool beer lesson. He gave an overview of the full operation that goes on in that tiny space, I asked a million questions since it was 1-on-1 time. Then we got to sample about 4 beers. It was $5 but you get to keep the pint glass. I bought a few 22 's to bring home too. He was so nice and it was great to get a personalized visit.
Best gem in Bennington! It totally beats out the bigger brewery, Madison not too far away! The beers here are very unique and different but make for good tasting beer! My favorite is the Sicilian IPA. There is no food here but the service and beer is good! The owners wife was our server and she was super knowledgeable about the beers.
Great brewery and this is definitely a must stop on your brewery tour or if you stop in Bennington! The DIY ethic really shows at this brewery- refreshing and inspiring!! Hope to return soon.
Seriously awesome. The beers are fantastic and range from familiar styles that are still far above average to interesting recipes like Mint Julep Bourbon Porter and Spiced Pear Pilsner. The owner, Chris, is a great conversationalist as well! We had an awesome time chatting and sipping and look forward to coming back to VT to have another great evening at Northshire!
