This place is now called The Gullah Jazz Cafe. Came for lunch. The place was Very clean...spotless and often cleaning public areas. I had fried shrimp. Came in very hungry, left stuffed! Fried shrimp was fantastic! and I am a native always looking for good shrimp. Prices were very good, I believe my shrimp were about $12. If you go, tell them Neil sent you and please leave a nice tip in the tip jar, They deserve it. They also have takeout.
Great service. Came here for lunch and had the fried chicken. I really liked the fried ocra too. Super clean. Fast service.
Awesome chicken and waffles in the BCBCC building in historic Beaufort. Chef AJ serves well-cooked and seasoned cornmeal crust fried chicken on par with fried chicken legends Leon's in Charleston and Roscoe's in LA. And the waffles are way better than Roscoe's! I got Red Velvet and my husband had cinnamon. Both came with a cinnamon and pepper honey syrup. Limited menu, but different offerings depending on the day of the week. We want to return for the Gullah style soul food. On Saturdays there are bottomless mimosas and Sundays feature a brunch buffet. But it's a family atmosphere in a community space, not suitable for a full-on Sunday Funday. Friendly service and a casual atmosphere.
Fresh, clean, very nice servers. I had the lemonade and Peach Sweet Tea mix. OMG it's amazing!!! The food does have that Gullah spice to it which made me look bad. I'm a southern girl but Gullah is another flavor. It is good tho. Great southern home cooking. I'll be back for the veggies and the lemonade Peach tea.
