Bidrage med feedbackLa Taverne is one of our favourite local restaurants even with its new neon purple exterior! We have been coming here for many years but, since moving house within the area, we pass it less frequently. It was a pleasure to return a few days ago and to sample its new to us 18,50 Euros three course dinner menu. The standard of cooking and presentation by its husband and wife chef proprietors remains consistently high and the welcome is as warm as ever.
Don't be put off by the unusual purple/pink colour of the building, probably intended so that you can't miss it near a roundabout on the road from Auray to Pontivy. We have been driving past it for years, always in a hurry but always noticed it. So here we are,we've done it and were nicely surprised by the warm interior, even including a log fire (early January, maybe not in August). Starter for me was a simple but good Mozzarella tomato salad. Followed by roast pork. The Duchesse had a roasted Saucisse Breton as main course that was excellent. My dessert was grilled bananas with a caramel sauce and a boule of vanilla ice-cream on top. Yum yum ! My menu was at E18.50 which I thought was good value. Service was perfect. So good Breton fare at a good price. Certainly worth a lunch or dinner stop.
We ate outside under trees not cold at all. We both had the 25 € menu which gave us access to 3 course meal with comprehensive choice. Food presentation was excellent compliments to the chef. Very pleasant staff serving at tables. A good find between Baud Camors. Would highly recommend it.
We had a lovely meal at La Taverne. We arrived a little bit early for the French but we were welcome. We enjoyed a very good rosé d’Anjou and very fresh pizza’s and tagliatelle. We all very much liked it! The hostess was helpful and even spoke Some English. We highly recommend this restaurant!
Some of our friends commented that this place served good food, and after a little hesitation, I and my family decided to try out this little restaurant. The outside was bright, the newly-repainted magenta walls gleaming. As we entered, I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere. The music gently played out the speakers, and we were literally the only customers there – for a while (however that may have had something to do with the fact we came on a thursday night). After choosing our dishes, we waited for about 8-15 minutes, and our pizzas were served. I had chosen the Quattro pizza, the four cheese one. The base was nice and light, and the cheeses were generously spread on the plate-sized pizza (including mozzarella, a nice change from the usual emmental cheese). After eating a good portion of it, I chose my pudding. The Cour Fondant Chocolate is a must-have if you like chocolate and warm puddings! It was soft, and the inside of melted chocolate oozed out, making a lovely combination with the cold, soft vanilla ice cream and the fresh strawberry. All in all, I'd heavily recommend this restaurant. The food is superb, the staff friendly, and everything is lovely and clean. Definitely going back there again!
