Bidrage med feedbackA nice quiet restaurant. we had kartoffelgnocchi, which was the only vegetarian option on the net. it was fantastic. very tasty, rich and smooth came with mushrooms, spinat and presented with disc-shaped radishes.Service was relatiw fast and employees were attentive. it would be nice if they added more vegetarian options. in general it is recommended.
A well-lit hotel bistro restaurant with modest decorations and furnishings. clean and tidy and courteous staff. on a Sunday evening ate briefly and had no problems getting a table for two./ my engaged ordered the beef short rib, which was a large rib as depicted. in contrast to expectations, the bark was not cut out of the bone and was quite hard, even difficult to cut out sometimes from the bone. she commented that it felt like it had eaten a medium steak. the accompanying gravure and maic was beautiful and beans were perfectly crispy, but neither over nor underdon./ I ordered the slow hour cooked pork belly which, apart from a very small part in this type of restaurant for the price was in dry. the crack was crispy and well cooked. but without a steak knife I needed for her, was impossible. the speck and the apfelmaic and accompanying jus was beautiful. Overall we did not have eaten on the standard of other hotel bistros in and around hobart, at previously. While both meal well presented, after a previous disappointing common bound seafood meal in the last year, we would not recommend this restaurant and not come back.
Liked the sound of the new menu but unfortunately it simply didn't deliver. Three of us ordered the crispy skin duck. Portion sizes varied significantly, shame the cooking time wasn't adjusted, the largest portion was well under. Worst of all, no crispy skin! Lentils were boring and the jus missing. The 12 hour lamb was fatty and tough. Not sure what was with the 6 cold peas and 3 cherry tomatoes, that hadn't been roasted! The char-grilled octopus was well under, tough and had no charring. Meals lack creative presentation, are expensive and we went home hungry :(
We were looking forward to having lunch after hearing about the great menu. We were a bit disappointed to be offered a "limited lunch menu" with no entrees. The meals were good & the service was great.
I think that the Salamanca Inn Beef and Seafood Grill is a hidden treasure. We were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to our table. The chairs are so comfortable and we indulged in their recommended wine which was Tempranillo. It was delicious and went very well with our Crispy Skinned Duck ($33.00) and their signature Smoked Rib Eye Steak ($48.00) which were both cooked to perfection. If I had time to go back I would have chosen the Wagyu or 12 hour Lamb. There was a good range of choices available and we found the portions to be very adequate but if you have a good appetite they also offer well priced side dishes at $8.00 each. The entree prices range from $9.00 to $17.00 with a reasonable selection. We booked a later dinner time but had no pressure from staff to hurry our meal. In fact, they actually stopped to chat with us through our meal which was great.
