Thilak - Badulla

Hotel Thilak doesn't look like something special from the outside, but behind the facade there is a beautiful balcony with magnificent views over the ella gap. The food is from the local variety, with a serving yourself honesty system. Means for example for lunch, there are a number of delicious dishes, for vegans and meat eaters alike. The best thing about this jewel is the humble owners who work all day and refuse to overload foreigners just because. We came for several meals, breakfast by dinner. And it is obviously popular with locals

It's a good place to have cheap food. If you are a local, you will be okey with its facilities. Somehow as a foreigner, you can just have a budget meal only. Staff and owner is very friendly. I cannot guarantee about cleanliness as most of Sri Lankan hotels are not under proper quality guide. But the view from hotel is very well. :
