Bidrage med feedbackHad a fantastic afternoon at this restaurant, the food was delicious and beautifully presented and all served superbly by the staff, the setting was gorgeous
Volli is a comfortable dining experience but please note that accessing the menu demands IT not a card menu to be had. It’s situation is good in the City centre but with atmospheric streets surrounding. The dining room we were placed n was a little unusual sort of a brick cavern but old (in a good way )and charming. The food was good to very good. One of our party needed to find vegetarian options but that was no problem. The veal with tuna sauce was exceptional. For a restaurant like this the cost was good. The wine list is very fairly priced and extensive. Service was fine and friendly. I would recommend it as a very acceptable choice.
Outstanding! After an afternoon seeing the sights of Asti famous for the Palio bareback horse race in the town square, friends from Piedmont took us to this restaurant for dinner, which was unforgettable. Housed in one of Asti's most historic buildings half of the dining room is medieval and the other half dates from the renaissance period the ground floor has been respectfully renovated (retaining parts of an original fresco) and decorated in muted tones. The room has very few tables that are well separated for a degree of privacy and comfort. Everything about the evening was first class. From the warm welcome, the service from only two waiting staff was impeccable. It managed to be both friendly and operate with clockwork precision. The food was of course, outstanding. Traditional Italian fayre has been re interpreted with modern twists. The finest ingredients are combined into sophisticated dishes with different flavous revealing themselves in waves much like an expensive fragrance. Our table of four ordered a wide selection of most things on the menu to as a voyage of discovery to find out how each dish would be interpreted and everything delivered the wow factor in terms of interpretation, presentation and taste. The banoffee pie is an extra special surprise highly recommended. It is a wonder that so much excellence comes from such a small kitchen. Diners can watch the chefs at work and as a mark of the attention to detail, the kitchen is behind a glass screen, so no odours or noise disturbs the dining room. As we were one of the last tables to finish that evening, Marco the owner and head chef came out from from the kitchen for a chat. He revealed himself as very friendly, humble and not al all arrogant or aggressive like other chefs of his ability such as Gordon Ramsey. Marco mentioned that he is a fan of modern chefs including Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre White and it shows in this fine restaurant. The wine selection was incredible with bottles chosen for flavour rather than price, or name. It seemed that local wines from the Piedmont and surrounding areas were showcased alongside other selections. I didn't order the wine, so I can't comment any further or cover the prices. In terms of prices, expect €50 per head a small price to pay for such a fantastic experience. It cannot be long before this place is recognised with a Michelin star and Marco and his team fully deserve it. I urge you to get here before then, because it will become impossible to book. You have been warned!
