Bidrage med feedbackWith all the positive reviews, I was expecting more. My latte was more foam than coffee, the bread on my sandwich wasn't great and the cheese tasted like kraft singles. Great popcorn and cute atmosphere but only average food.
MJ's is in Annville's main square, right next to Lebanon Valley College. It has been here for a while so they have a loyal customer base, and there is really not a lot in the area for coffee or lunch. The Allen Theater is a local gem and really worth checking out. That's all lucky for them, because the service and management at the coffee house are really unacceptable. The food and coffee are fine- nothing special but not bad. For the past year, I have gone in numerous times at lunch time (shortly after they open) only to be told they don't have major items on their already limited menu, such as wraps, turkey, or chicken! How is that possible? They are almost always understaffed, leaving one poor soul to handle the cash register and preparing food. It's such a shame, but I can't recommend MJ's anymore. It's a real missed opportunity- this could be a great place. I hope MJ's can get it together so it lives up to its potential.
Unfortunately, not really impressed. I ordered a latte and was given a styrofoam cup filled with my beverage rather than being offered a ceramic cup (a stack of them were clearly in view. When I asked for a lid, I was told they were out. The coffee was ok, not stellar.
Not the best espresso drinks. Cute atmosphere, though. I do recommend mozzarella sandwich
A very special place! A very clean, comfortable, updated cafe and Main Street theatre, with good coffee, lattes, breakfast/lunch, free wifi, and local art for sale. My favorites are the Turkey and Brie on focaccia, the tomato bisque, and the Hershey ice cream. This place is a must visit if you 're in the area. The owner (Skip Hicks) is passionate about the arts and good food and drink. He is a most endearing soul and the energy here reflects that. You just want to stay forever. You 're welcome to take any food and drink from the café into the theater during the movie. How awesome is that. A true movie 'house '.
