Bidrage med feedbackKarl Strauss is a great stop before an Angels game. The vibe is great. The beer is better than Golden Road’s beer and the food was much better than Golden Road’s. Service was great! This will be our new spot to hang out before games where beer doesn’t cost you $15.50 a pour (stadium prices). Get there early enough, and you won’t have to pay the $10 fee to park either. Well worth it!
UPDATE 6/8/22: Following up on my review with Karl Strauss from four years ago. We gave them another try tonight because we were going to yet another Angels game across the street. I am bumping this update from a 3 star to a 4 star because this time around was better than the last. My dad and I visited to grab a few beers and a bite to eat before the game. The four star is because it was difficult to view the menu using the QR code because it wouldn't load on our phones correctly. Eventually we got it working and we browsed the menu. I got the Windandsea Hefeweizen and my dad got the Controlled Chaos Sour Pink Lemonade. Later, we tried out a honey stout and a dark stout in 4 oz glasses. The Hefeweizen and Sour Pink Lemonade were both really good, but both the honey and dark stouts weren't my forte. Our dishes were mac and cheese for me and a bologna sandwich with fries for my dad. You can't miss out on food at Karl Strauss it's excellent! Get here early during baseball season! Because we got here about two hours before the game started, we were able to find a table. There was a line out the door when we left they are still operating at limited capacity I believe due to COVID. And if you're going to the game, then you can easily use the crosswalk next to the brewery. Simple.
If I have the option to give zero star I would. The restaurant defers to using an app for ordering which requires you to pay your tip before you get your meal. Guess what no one serves you. Service suck. Waiters looks like they hated to be there. If I could take my tip back I would. Half of the items that are highly praised on yelp are no longer on the menu. The rest that is still on the menu is pretty standard , nothing special. We regret to try this place. Will not go back again.
This location is inside a big building. I thought I was lost at first. Plenty of parking but we didn't go on a game day either. Very spacious and modern location. You can either order with the QR code or go up the bar. I couldn't order the burger the way I wanted so I opted for the bar. I placed my order and then you get a number. Our party did about 1/2 1/2. Drinks started coming in but the poor waiter waitress had no idea who ordered what even though we got numbers if we ordered at the counter and it was a free for all if you ordered on line. Food comes out whenever you ordered and your order was ready. I opted for the cheddar burger protein style with sweet potato fries for an extra charge. Meat was cooked well and fries were good. Would have liked a few more fries but didn't need them either, lol. $16.95 for burger and fries. We got delivered a salmon plate no one ordered it. They took it back to the kitchen, not sure what they did with it. Few other dishes came out but was reversed on who ordered what. It did get worked out. We also needed refills but hard to figure out who we ask since we didn't really have a waiter. You don't get a birthday dessert since they once have one. They do offer a free birthday beer. They weren't busy so we didn't feel rushed or anything. Good location if you are going to an Angel's game.
This restaurant is always a great to meet my friends or family for a fun environment, delicious food, and great service. Waiters check on us throughout and always make us feel welcome. The Brussels Sprouts are always my absolute favorite and Karl Strauss makes them just right--crispy and flavorful. They went well with the salmon. The restaurant is clean and it's a bit loud but perfect for families and friend gatherings. Outdoor seating option overseeing the Angel's stadium is pretty cool. I love hanging out with my friends here after a hard day at work. Thank you!
