Leaving this review because I had a terrible customer service experience. We got there and it was pretty full, but most tables already had their food and drinks. We ordered and got it to go since there were no spots then sat at the bar. We waited for our food(2 burritos) for over 40 minutes. I saw other people order food after me and leave with theirs before I got mine. The staff even started rolling silverware right in front of me at the bar at eye level even though there was a huge amount of space on the bar not in front of a customer. There was no communication from staff about updates about the wait time. Even after getting our food there was no thank you, no sorry for the wait, they literally said nothing. The food was really good, but if you’re charging that much for food the least I ask for is staff to be nice and courteous, I didn’t feel comfortable or welcome at all.
The coffee and **** Marys are on point, the food not so much. The food arrives cold/semi-warm. They need a food lamp and/or plate warmer. No one checks on you to see if your food is good. Staff seems more concerned with flirting with each other. The eggs are slightly under poached, the eggs Benedict is served with cold bacon, but hollandaise sauce is homemade. There is potential, but food execution requires improvement.
We came here three days in a row while visiting Ames. Twice for dine in and once to go. The BLT is really special, the brown butter flavor really makes it unique. The orange juice and coffee are delightful and the chai is worth the trip alone. For my preferences, the Strawberry Goat Cheese toast needed some more crunch to it, but the flavor combination was good. We will be back again whenever we come through Ames- thank you!Kid-friendliness: Our daughter is very friendly and curious and the staff was friendly and accommodating back.Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp from the parking lot to the front door, with two handicapped parking spots.
Food choice is limited. I had the bacon and scrambled eggs. The eggs were dry and tasted like that liquid stuff out of a carton. The two tiny slices of bacon seemed pre-cooked and heated up. For 9 bucks, yuck! They also have some snooty policy about not having ketchup, but Cholula hot sauce is ok!? No black breakfast tea and the booths are far too far away from the tables. Not a great place for breakfast for me anyway.
