Bidrage med feedbackLocated on a corner of the historic square, this classic French restaurant is a great place for dinner. Book ahead as it is popular too! The service is attentive, patient (with our rusty French) and friendly. The food excellent for the price point. Excellent wine list with many good wines available by the glass. Not too casual but not too formal either. We had the ceviche (on fennel, chickpea humus, pickles) and asparagus with burata (candied kumquats, wild garlic) for our starters. Bread of course is served and I had to remind twice of my gluten allergy with the bread and the amusebouche, but my starter and main did not contain any gluten. Our mains were the grilled lamb with aubergine (feta, olives, celery) and steamed pollack (lemongrass, turnips, mashed potatoes, vanilla). I could have done with something carb based to accompany the lamb, but everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. The detail in the dishes makes it a more interesting dinner, isn't overpowering, allowing the star on the plate to shine and everything else compliment it. Portions sizes were about right not too much not too small. Prices are about right for what you get, although could be seen as a little steep overall. We're based on London prices so for us this is about normal. It has an upmarket interior and very comfortable seats with good sized tables arranged so that you are not talking right next to someone else, allowing a feeling of a bit more privacy. It's well thought out for a pleasant dining experience.
Lovely spot for lunch on a little square with very good shade at the hottest part of the day. Had a fabulous steak tartare with fries. Son had a beautiful macaron based dessert. Only main courses and dessers on offer at lunch no starters presumably to facilitate faste turnover of tables. Food is fair value but 35 euros for fairly ordinary local rosé seems a little steep. Service friendly and efficient.
This was one of the highlights of a recent trip to France. We had an absolutely delicious dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The setting, the service, the wine, the food all excellent. Highly recommended!
We loved our evening here at this special restaurant. Great food in a beautiful setting. Everything was delicious and the service, atmosphere, food quality stood out. We dined with two vegetarian friends and the staff offered a starter dish into a main course. Definitely recommended visiting whilst in Aix.
