Barra Berries Farmshop - Aberdeenshire

We visit regularly for lunch, coffees etc so thought we would try afternoon tea. We had a 2.30 booking. The table was decorated very well and the service was good the food was a bit of a let down. The bread for the sandwiches was delicious but the fillings were just ok. The sweet chutney with the ham was over powering and the chilli cheese again was just a little sickly. The Quiches were all very dry, however the sausage rolls were excellent. The cakes were a mixed bag, the raspberry posset was lovely, the scones were just so dry and overcooked, they didn’t really taste home made I buy scones regularly there the shortbread was overcooked and crisp, the coffee and brown sugar cake was just dense and tasteless, the brownie was very bitter. It was quite a shock as we have coffee and cakes so often there. We will still go back again but it wasn’t a great afternoon tea experience I am afraid.

Food is good, tables a bit tight for space, but the person that wrote the menu should think again and maybe ask customers It is overly complicated and takes ages to read through all the unnecessary waffle Please make it simpler and shorter

The food at this restaurant was delightful, but the service left much to be desired. Despite having made a reservation, we were ignored by the two staff members busy serving at the counter. We had to locate our own menus and were not even asked if we wanted drinks. We were left wondering if we were supposed to approach the counter to place our order. One tall, well-dressed lady seemed to purposefully avoid helping us each time we tried to ask her something, giving us the impression that she was simply there for show. While the two women behind the counter were efficient, the lack of the usual cheerful and helpful young staff members was noticeable. Ultimately, the food was delicious, but the service was lacking.

Brilliant food and service. Great value fantastic tasty food. Ample parking very welcoming. Home made jam on sale. Can’t wait to return.

Really enjoyed our lunch chosen from a very varied and appetising menu.Friendly,helpful staff.Was very busy and we hadn't booked but waitress went out her way to find a table for us.One wee criticism is the tables are a bit close together both for moving around the space and for conversation.Will definitely be back and would recommend.
