Komen beslist terug.
This restaurant has outside seating, wine bar on the ground floor and traditional tables and chairs upstairs. we had a warm welcome and friendly service. We enjoyed the food and cosy atmosphere.
I was looking for some German food late in the evening. I found this on Yelp with three perfect ratings which isn't much but it was late and and I was hungry so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed. They don't have a very big menu and specialize in "flammkuchen" which is somewhat like a thin crust pizza but rather than using a red sauce as a base, they use a very soft cheese like cream cheese (fromage blanc/quark) and then add toppings to it. The dish originates in the south western region of Germany above Bavaria. The food was fantastic! I started with potato soup with ginger and topped with green onion and small shrimp. The soup was thicker than a broth and had substance but was not necessarily a creamy soup. The ginger was not overpowering but gave the potato additional flavor. It was a great soup. After that I had the flammkuchen topped with goat cheese, honey and almonds. It was really enjoyable. I finished the meal with their chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. The cake was very much like a chocolate lava cake with a semi liquid center and chocolate cake exterior. It was served right out of the oven so it was piping hot. The vanilla ice cream had pepper in it which gave it a very unique addition. It did not seem to change the flavor of the ice cream but there was a subtle pepper after-zing noticeable after swallowing. Although I probably would not buy this type of ice cream at the store it was a nice culinary experience and worked well with the cake. The restaurant is right off the main square in a small converted old house. There are two levels with around 4-8 tables per level. It is very quaint and the wait staff is very friendly. The food came relatively quick. It was just a really pleasant evening and the food was a very pleasant discovery.
